Enrollments are now being accepted for the 2008-2009 school year! To enroll at MNOHS, please follow the steps in this section of the web site in order. You can move from step to step by clicking on the button at the bottom of each page. Before you begin it's a good idea to print a copy of the Enrollment Checklist below. This will help you to keep track of the different steps and forms.
Enrollment Checklist (items in bold correspond to items in the drop-down menu on the web page): ___ Are You Ready? If you haven't yet done so, read the “Are you ready for online learning?” page and take the quiz to see if online learning is right for you. Make sure you've read the MNOHS Student and Parent Handbooks too--if you enroll, you need to know what's in them. ____ Talk over your decision with your family and friends. If you're under 18, your parent will need to give permission for you to enroll. This comes later in the enrollment process, but it's a good idea to talk with them now. ____ Computer Requirements: Read the "MNOHS Hardware and Software Requirements" list and do the system check. ____ Types of Enrollment: Read about the types of enrollment at MNOHS, and decide whether you will be enrolled at MNOHS only or if you will be a supplemental/“dual-enrolled” student at MNOHS. (Supplemental students attend MNOHS and another public school at the same time.) _____ Special Education: If you qualify for special education services, please read this page. If you enroll at MNOHS, you'll need to request to have your special education records (most recent IEP and Evaluation Report) sent or faxed to the MNOHS special education staff immediately. _____ Enrollment form: If you've decided that MNOHS is the school for you, submit the "Online Enrollment Form." _____ Records Release Form (for MNOHS-only students): Fill out the "Permission to Release Records" form and send or bring it to your last school(s). You must request to have your records sent to MNOHS. Please follow up with your other school(s) to make sure your records have been faxed or sent to the MNOHS office. We cannot enroll you in the appropriate courses without first reviewing your transcript! ____ Supplemental Form (for supplemental/"dual-enrolled" students only): Print the "Online Learning Supplemental Notice of Student Registration" form and take it to school to get your counselor’s signature. This form also needs a parent's signature if you are under 18. Fax or send it to the MNOHS office. ____ Enrollment Confirmation: Print, sign, and mail or fax the "Enrollment Confirmation and Learning Support Agreement" within one week of submitting This form confirms your intent to attend MNOHS. Your enrollment is not complete without it--if you don't submit it, you could lose your place at MNOHS and might need to go on the waiting list. If you are under 18, we require a parent or guardian's signature as well. Also included with the enrollment confirmation are parental permission and release forms for science and PE. Although you don't yet have your course schedule, we ask that you return these signed forms to us now so that you won't experience any delays in starting your courses. If you are over 18, please sign these forms yourself. ____ Benefits Form: Review the criteria to qualify for free/reduced lunch. If your family qualifies, please print the "Application for Educational Benefits" form, fill in the information, and mail or fax this form to the MNOHS office. Although MNOHS is an online school and we don't serve lunch, this program might help you to qualify for other benefits. ____ Orientation Appointment: When you submit the online Enrollment form, you will receive an e-mail message acknowledging that your submission went through. Please go to your e-mail account and find this message. Read Step 5 in the message and click on Reply to request your preferred Orientation appointment. If you can't find the acknowledgement e-mail message, please contact us at info@mnohs.org ____ Orientation Headset: To take full advantage of the listening and speaking tools available to online learners today, MNOHS is asking students to have a headset with a noise canceling microphone and speaker that can be plugged into their computer. These headsets can be purchased at most retail stores that carry computer accessories for very reasonable prices. You can also get a headset from MNOHS. If you don't have a headset, you can go to Orientation under the Enrollment section above and follow the instructions you find there. Order your headset now so you will be ready for Orientation!
