Kimberly Breeden has taught mathematics to students in grades 8 through 12 since 1997. She received her Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth; in 2002 she completed her Masters in Educational Technology at St. Thomas. She began her teaching career at Chisago Lakes High School and has most recently taught at Rockford High School. In addition to teaching mathematics, Ms. Breeden has been active in other areas of education: teaching careers and study skills, coaching math league, and tutoring one-on-one. At MNOHS she currently teaches AP Calculus, Sketch Pad Geometry, and Discrete Math.

Lori Breidenbach has over fifteen years experience teaching English and Language Arts. She currently teaches English Survey, American Literature Survey, and Research Learning at MNOHS. She is also the lead teacher for the independent study/credit recovery program at Hopkins High School. She previously taught traditional classroom English at Kentridge High School in Kent, Washington for several years before returning to Minnesota. Ms. Breidenbach received her bachelor’s degrees in English and Secondary Education from the University of North Dakota and earned graduate level credits at Seattle Pacific University. She also started her own tutoring business and has tutored students in English, reading, study skills, and math.

Janet Charbonneau has been teaching for over 20 years as a special education teacher. She has a BS degree from Luther College, and her Master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. Janet is licensed to teach special education K-12, and English 7-12. Currently, Janet teaches full-time at White Bear Lake Schools as well as working for MNOHS. Janet previously taught in Wisconsin and for District 287 (serving the northwestern suburbs of Minneapolis).

Heather Dehn-Brastad has been teaching for fourteen years – the last three at MNOHS where she teaches Math Survey, Algebra 1, and Math Reasoning. Previously she taught middle school and high school math in Hawaii and northern Minnesota, tutored students individually in math, and taught enrichment mathematics. She has also designed and taught a paraprofessional training course in central Minnesota that is a hybrid between an online course and an on-site course. Ms. Dehn has her BS in mathematics from Bemidji State University and has taken graduate courses from St. Cloud State University. She is licensed to teach mathematics for grades 7-12 in Minnesota.

Scott Fodness, Language Arts, teaches American Literature and Effective Writing at MNOHS. After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1973, Mr. Fodness started teaching at Jefferson High School in Alexandria, Minnesota. He returned to the University to obtain Special Education certification, later receiving a M.A. in Education from The College of St. Scholastica. At Jefferson, he usually teaches American Literature, Humanities and Composition; he also coaches debate and speech and advises the school newspaper. Mr. Fodness has taught graduate students in English Education online for the College of Saint Scholastica. In 2005, a nomination from a student led to Mr. Fodness receiving a U.S. Department of Education Teacher Recognition Award.

Jeremy Holien comes to the Minnesota Online High School with over 11 years of visual art and media arts classroom teaching experience. His teaching credentials include being the K-12 Visual Arts Department Chair for the Northfield public schools, teaching K-12 teachers as the instructor and consultant for the Perpich Center for Arts Education’s Adult Courses in Education – Media Arts, and now the Introduction to Media Arts course at the MN Online High School. He has been recognized with the TIES (Technology Information Education Services) Exceptional Teacher Award, presenter of “Animate the Arts” at the 2005 National Art Education Association’s Annual Conference, and his work with standards-based art education was featured on the Perpich Center for Art Education’s “Profiles in Success” DVD. His students have gained state wide and national recognition for the high caliber of work they exhibit.

Leah Holmgren joined MNOHS as a Government and Economics adjunct teacher for the 2005-06 school year. She has since developed and currently teachers World Geography and Civics. Leah is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas. While attending St. Thomas Leah studied History, Secondary Education, and Economics. Leah has also taught Human Geography for ISD 191 and in the past has aided at Mahtomedi High School, coached swimming for North High (North St. Paul), and coordinated a reading program for Community of Peace Academy in St. Paul, MN. Her interests and hobbies include competitive swimming, reading, watching good movies, cooking, and learning new things. Leah earned her Masters of Education degree in the Spring of 2008 from St. Thomas University.

Tom Kapocius has taught high school journalism and communications in the Metro area for several years since receiving his Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of St. Thomas. He originally received his B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Minnesota (’92) and worked as a journalist, editor and web content manager prior to teaching. He has a background in technology and publications. Tom teaches Genre Studies and Journalism in the MNOHS Language Arts Department.

Anastasia Martin is a Social Studies educator who also teaches at Rasmussen College in Brooklyn Park, MN. A North Dakota native, Anastasia loves to travel and has been to five continents. She has 8 years of teaching experience at both the high school and college levels. Anastasia received her BA in Political Science and Education from North Dakota State University and her Master’s degree in Public Administration from Southern Connecticut State University.

Darcie McGee is a grades 7-12 certified Spanish teacher. A native of Iowa, she earned her BA and MA in Spanish teaching from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She has studied and lived in Mexico, Costa Rica and Spain. Her 10+ years of teaching Spanish has taken her all over the country and even the world! She has taught in Tomball, Texas and St. Louis Park, Minnesota and spent a year teaching Spanish at the American Community Schools in Athens, Greece. Darcie has also worked as an instructor, credit facilitator, assistant dean and dean with Concordia Language Villages in Bemidji, Minnesota. She currently lives in Iowa with her husband and two daughters.

Terance Reisch has taught Social Studies and Career Exploration for 20 years. He added online teaching to his resume ten years ago. He continues to teach in a traditional public school setting as well. Terrance has earned masters level status in education and is a member of the Minnesota Online High School Board.

Rebecca Rennicke

Rebecca Rennicke has been teaching science for almost 30 years. She is certified by the state of Minnesota to teach all sciences, grades 7-12. Over the course of her expereince, Rebecca has taught Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and a specialized Environmental Research course. Rebecca also teaches online Earth Science and Physcial Science courses for college level students going into the field of teaching. Rebecca uses the Inquiry Method for learning whenever possible. At MNOHS she currently teaches Earth Science, Physics Survey, and Physics.

Bonnie Rosenfield has a B.S. with majors in Physical Education and Health from the University of Minnesota. She has taught Health Education for Minneapolis Public Schools since 1999, most recently at Washburn High School and before that at Roosevelt High School for 4 years. Ms. Rosenfield pioneered Minneapolis Public School’s Online Health Education program and has taught Health Science I and II online since 2003. She also modified and taught Health II for online ESL students in Minneapolis. In the past she had taught as a substitute in the Minneapolis and Bloomington schools and has coached gymnastics, swimming, and track and field.

Don Running teaches Elements of Music at the Minnesota Online High School. He has taught instrumental and general music in Minnesota and Wisconsin and assisted with college courses in Rock History, Music Fundamentals, and Movies and Music. He earned an undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1991, and a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Running remains active as a conductor, composer, teacher, and bass trombonist in the Twin Cities area.

Jennifer Russell teaches Biology and the Biology of Companion Animals at MNOHS. She is a 2001 graduate of the University of Wisconsin- River Falls with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education and teaching licenses in both Agriculture and Biology. Jennifer has three years experience teaching high school agriscience in Waterford and Cambridge, Wisconsin. She also worked for the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation as the Director of Training and Leadership Development. Jennifer is currently completing her Masters of Science degree in Agricultural Education at the University of Wisconsin--River Falls.

Stephanie Snidarich is a veteran Art Instructor with over 19 years experience teaching a variety of ages in various settings. She currently teaches Visual Arts and Arts Appreciation at MNOHS. Stephanie has also developed and taught Fine Arts and Media Arts courses at Nay Ah Shing High School, for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. She has also served the Brainerd School District in the capacity of Elementary Art Coordinator for the district’s eight elementary schools, assisting and in servicing the 160+ teachers as well as developing and teaching art curriculum. Ms. Snidarich has also taught for Apple Valley Schools at the Elementary and Middle School levels. She is a practicing artist and writer with a focus on painting, drawing and poetry, although recently she has developed a real fondness for anything related to media arts, including video editing, digital photography and graphic design.

Dave Wilfahrt is a mathematics instructor at Minnesota Online High School. He has been teaching mathematics for the last 16 years. In addition to teaching Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus and Calculus, Dave has also taught Astronomy, Physics, and Consumer Math. Dave also teaches mathematics in Mankato, Minnesota, where he has coached football and basketball. Dave has been involved in many technological aspects of instruction, including online teaching. In July 2005, Dave received his Master’s of Education degree with an emphasis in distance education. Dave has been teaching for Minnesota Online High School for the past three years.
