Can I enroll part-time? Print E-mail

It's possible for students to enroll in Minnesota Online High School and in their local public school district at the same time.  Supplemental enrollment (formerly called "dual enrollment") is an ideal solution for students who want to try one or two online courses, or who are unable to get the courses they want or need through their local public school. Tuition is free as long as a student is enrolled in another public school in Minnesota and doesn't exceed a full-time course load between the two schools. Students who choose supplemental enrollment will graduate with a diploma from their local school.

Unfortunately, this option is not available tuition-free to students who want to take more than a full load of classes in order to make up credits. Students who are registered for a full-time course load at another school, but want to take additional online courses may choose to pay tuition for those courses.

Free tuition through state funding is also not available to non-residents of Minnesota, students who are enrolled in private schools, or students who want to homeschool part-time. MNOHS only receives state funding for students who divide their enrollment between two public schools (MNOHS and another Minnesota public school).

If you are planning to take some classes at your local high school and some at Minnesota Online High School, be sure to complete the Supplemental Enrollment form.  By law, we cannot consider your enrollment complete, and you cannot begin online classes, until we have received this form signed and dated by your school counselor and by your parent, if you are under 18.
