Prior to joining MNOHS as its interim and then executive director in 2008, Ned founded and led CreativeMatter.net LLC - a group of educators and designers who designed, developed, and produced educational programming and media for children and clients such as the Minnesota Historical Society, Minnesota Public Radio and other organizations with an educational mission. Their projects and materials have been used in over 40,000 classrooms across the country. Ned's public education career has included being on the founding faculty of the Linwood A+ School in St. Paul as well as being been a "traditional" classroom teacher in both urban and suburban settings. | Sarah Carsello, Systems Engineer Phone: 1-800-764-8166 ext. 106 Email: s.carsello@mail.mnohs.org | Since joining MNOHS in 2008, Sarah has developed and implemented technology systems for students, teachers and administrative staff. She also supports the school learning management system (Blackboard), provides hardware/software technology support, website and SharePoint development and support. Sarah trains administrative staff and faculty on school systems and software, and teaches the Technology Orientation course for all new and returning MNOHS students. Sarah has a B.A. in Marketing from The College of St. Scholastica. | Elissa Raffa, Dean of Academic Programming Phone: 1-800-764-8166 ext. 103 Email: e.raffa@mail.mnohs.org | Elissa Raffa has a B.S. in Secondary Science Education and an M.F.A. in Creative and Professional Writing, both from the University of Minnesota. She is licensed to teach physics and chemistry in Minnesota and is also highly qualified in biology, mathematics, and earth science. A founding director of MNOHS, Ms. Raffa has been active in arts education as well as science education. Before starting MNOHS, she developed and taught courses for seven years with the Mindquest Learning Network in Bloomington and for twelve years at Loring Nicollet Alternative School in Minneapolis. She is a member of the Minnesota Online Learning Advisory Council and has been active state-wide in preparing pre-service and in-service teachers for the rigors of online education. At MNOHS, Ms. Raffa supervises the faculty and the learning program, guiding the development of high-quality, interactive online instruction and assessment in all content areas, using state-of-the-art technologies. Her first novel, Freeing Vera, was published in 2005 by The Permanent Press of Sag Harbor, New York.
